JSA / JSEA Book – Job Safety Analysis
A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is used to identify hazards and controls and communicate these to your work group.
An effective JSA involves the following five actions.
- Break the job down into its basic steps.
- Identify the hazards associated with each step.
- Identify controls to eliminate or control those hazards.
- Put controls in place and check to see if new hazards are created.
- Proceed with the job and monitor the controls while you work.
Other similar documents to a JSA are a Job Safety and Environment Analysis (JSEA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) or Work Method Statements (WMS). The purpose of these documents is to document from start to finish the step-by-step process that is needed for a work task or activity to be undertaken safely, acknowledging any high risk construction activities and the environment.
Pertrain has developed an effective Job Safety Analysis Book (JSA) and Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) template that we can customise for your organisation.
