In response to advice from industry, the Resource and Infrastructure Industry (RII) Training Packages have changed.
The changes have been endorsed by the National Skills Council and are in line with their revised standards for training packages. The new training packages look quite different from the previous RII09 version with the emphasis firmly on creating a more robust training and assessment tool. The main differences are:
- The addition of mandatory assessor requirements
- The splitting of the Unit of Competency into three documents – Range of conditions document for the range statement, an assessment requirements document, and the actual unit of competency document that contains the elements and performance criteria for the topic
- The introduction of a companion guide for implementation of the RII package
- The limitation of using work place or equipment simulations for assessment, now only permitted in specific Units of Competency and where safety is an issue.
The newly endorsed RII Training Package is live on www.training.gov.au.
